The Chicago River is as much a part of the atmosphere and personality of the city as the cold winters. It swerves and snakes through the city. People are constantly reminded of its presence as they cross over one of the city’s many bridges. They even dye it green on St. Patrick’s Day. Sometimes, when the sun is setting or the light is cracking through the clouds and past the buildings, looking down the river can actually take your breath away (literally when the wind is blowing hard enough).
