There’s a Castle in Central Park?!

Did you know there’s a castle in Central Park? It’s not a real castle. It’s a mini castle. Belvedere Castle was built in the late 1880s by Calvert Vaux (the co-designer of the park).1 The castle itself isn’t too impressive. It’s mostly a bunch of stone and a stairwell. The worthwhile part is the view from the top which provides some stunning views of the city. Not to mention that sudden shock of turning the corner to see a castle that seems to perfectly, albeit confusingly, fit into its surroundings.
